i need som help
4x + y = 0 - (1)
x + 2y +1 = 0 - (2)
this what im doing
put eq (2) into eq (1)
x = -2y -1
4(-2y -1) = 0
8y - + y - 8 = 0
9y = 8
y = 8/9
im lost after this help?

Multiply (2) by 4 to lose the x’s
4x + y = 0
4x + 8y + 4 = 0 Take one away from the other
4x + y ……..= 0 -
___________
…….7y + 4 = 0
……7y = - 4
y = - 4/7
therefore 4x = 4/7
x = 1/7
Check in (2)
1/7 - 8/7 + 1 = 0
x = 1/7 and y = - 4/7
If you do it your way
x = - 2y -1
4 ( - 2y - 1) + y = 0
- 8y - 4 +y = 0
- 7y = 4
- y = 4/7
y = - 4/7
Sub for y in (1)
4x - 4/7 = 0
4x = 4/7
x = 1/7
