Substitution
i need som help
4x + y = 0 - (1)
x + 2y +1 = 0 - (2)
this what im doing
put eq (2) into eq (1)
x = -2y -1
4(-2y -1) = 0
8y - + y - 8 = 0
9y = 8
y = 8/9
im lost after this help?
what can u conclude if the solution to a linear system gives the equation?
1) 0y = 0
2) 0x = 2
help?
thanks

I would solve for equation 1:
y=-4x
Plug this into equation 2 and solve for x:
x+2(-4x)+1=0
x-8x+1=0
-7x=-1
x=1/7
Plug this into when you solved for equation 1 and solve for y:
y=-4(1/7)
y=-4/7
